This project will widen Highway 90 from four lanes to six, spanning from State Highway 609 in Ocean Springs to Dolphin Dr. in Gautier. Directionalized intersections and a multi-use path along one side of the highway will also be constructed.
The project is a part of House Bill 1642 and Senate Bill 3120, which Governor Tate Reeves signed into law in April 2023. House Bill 1642 authorizes more than $1.4 billion to the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT); Senate Bill 3120 provides additional funding for road, bridge, port, rail, and airport improvements throughout the state.
Due to MDOT's project, the City of Ocean Springs must relocate utilities on Highway 90 to adjust to the widening of the Highway. Several city utilities conflict with the proposed project, therefore the Highway Utility Relocation Project is to address those issues.
Currently in the design phase, construction is projected to begin in 2024 and take a couple of years to complete. For more information regarding this project, please contact the city’s project manager.
This project is not under the authority of the City of Ocean Springs. The Mississippi Department of Transportation has full authority over this project.
Projected Start Date: Winter 2024
