Debris Removal
The City of Ocean Springs residents are asked to refrain from dumping within 30 minutes prior to the close of business. This is for the safety of the residents and Public Works employees. Residents may be asked to show their identification for address verification.
Debris Pick-Up Information
Included Items
- Furniture and other miscellaneous household items (i.e., washer, dryer, tv, small appliances)
- Tree trimmings, hedge cuttings, shrubbery
- Leaves and small weeds, etc. (must be bagged)
- Hardened latex paint (no other paint is acceptable)
Excluded Items
- Hazardous and biomedical waste
- Whole trees
- Dead animals
- Tires/Automotive parts, including automotive/mower batteries.
- Roofing
- Plaster
- Masonry, including bricks, mortar and concrete
- Refrigerators and freezers (Due to FREON)
- Contractor, landscaper or “yard man” debris (a contractor is defined as a person or company that undertakes a contract to provide materials or labor to perform a service).
- Any substances resulting from construction, repairs, and remodeling of any building on private property.
Please note
- Items that do not conform to the above requirements will not be collected by The City; and will the responsibility of the property owner or contractor to be removed.
- Debris should not line a street or right-of-way, under any circumstances.
- In most cases, Public Works will pick up debris on the day after your regularly scheduled garbage pick-up. It is understood that holidays and unforeseen circumstances can affect debris pickup schedules without prior notice.
- In most cases, the garbage contractor will take BAGGED trimmings if placed adjacent to your garbage on your regularly scheduled pickup day.
- Public Works will NOT pick up behind contractors or personal construction. Additionally, Contractors are NOT allowed to dump at the Public Works complex.
- Please do not place debris on drain inlets, near fire hydrants, underneath power lines or near transformers.
