City of Ocean Springs Debuts New City Logo
Ocean Springs, MS – At their Special Call Meeting on Thursday, May 26, 2022, the Mayor and Board of Aldermen approved a new official city logo.
“We are excited to share our new logo which represents the future of Ocean Springs,” said Mayor Kenny Holloway. “Ocean Springs is the place to be, and our branding should reflect that. Great job to our Arts and Culture Coordinator, Sarah Qarqish, who spearheaded this task to find the essence of Ocean Springs and create a logo to represent our city.”
In the new logo, there is a sun made from a compass that captures the waves in the ocean along a horizon line. ‘City of Discovery’ sits above the logo, reminiscent of the notches on a compass. ‘Ocean Springs’ sits proudly in a clean, serif font that nautically connects font and form. ‘Mississippi’ sits underneath as a clean secondary text.
“The logo encompasses not just one part of our city, but the atmosphere and vibe of Ocean Springs,” said Ms. Qarqish. “We are not just a bridge, clock tower, building, tree, or bird – but so much more! How do you create one shape or drawing that contains all of what Ocean Springs is and what it means to not only the Coast but to the State of Mississippi?”
“We are the City of Discovery. We feel sunshine, we live oceanside, we experience sunsets, so naturally, combining elements of what we are just made sense,” she continued.
The new logo has an attractive shape and presence, is clean, and is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. It can be both formal and have a modern look. This logo will be used to unify city departments, wayfinding signs throughout town, and more.
The city will slowly transition out of the current 1699, fleur de lis logo which was designed in 2005.
