Boilin’ on da Beach Crawfish Competition at Fort Maurepas in Ocean Springs
(Ocean Springs, MS) – The City of Ocean Springs will host a community crawfish competition for teams to cook and compete on Saturday, April 29, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Fort Maurepas Park overlooking Front Beach.
This competition invites backyard cooks, restaurants, businesses, or organizations to build teams to compete for prizes for the best crawfish. Teams of four will bring their pots and seasonings to boil their best batch of mudbugs. Teams can win in multiple categories including Best Boil, People’s Choice, and Mayor’s Cup. Interested teams are encouraged to register online or stop by the Mayor’s Office to sign up. The competition rules can be found on the city’s website.
This competition also includes a Mayor’s Cup category. Mayors from across the Coast will cook their best batch of crawfish for event-goers to taste and judge. Locals should come to support their mayors in this friendly One Coast competition.
“It’s crawfish season and the Fort is the perfect place to enjoy a little mudbug competition,” said Mayor Kenny Holloway. “What better way to spend your day in Ocean Springs than enjoying the outdoors and eating crawfish?”
Boilin’ on da Beach will be a ticketed event. Teams may register for $100 for a team of four. Individual attendee tickets are $20 per person to enjoy all-you-can-eat crawfish. F.E.B. Distributing beverages will be available for purchase during the event.
