The property was purchased and funded jointly by the city and Jackson County. Supported by GOMESA funds, the design work is underway. Additional funding has been requested from RESTORE ACT, as well as additional GOMESA funds.
This phased project will create a public event space and marina at the former Fayard Seafood property on Front Beach. Design and permitting work is ongoing and will be fully supported by FY22 GOMESA funds.
Additional funding has been approved through the RESTORE ACT – DEQ Portal.
The project is anticipated to total $20 million in construction costs:
Current activities include preliminary design and permitting.
Pending the proper permits, the bid is scheduled for Fall 2024.
